The dates have been set, activities are being planned and excitement is in the air. Appalachian Caverns in Blountville TN is excited to once again be hosting a Girl Scout Camporee exclusively for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts.

The excitement will begin on June 22, 2008 as troops can begin arriving to set up camp. Activities begin on June 23rd. Activities this year have once again been expanded with many other options for adventure. Don't forget this is a "Bring Your Own Tent" event unless arrangements are made otherwise.

There will be three options offered this year. Each price is per person whether adult or girl.

The "Basic 3" ($60) includes:
All the components to complete the Caving IPA along with the IPA (i.e. regular walking tour, seminar on bats and caves, a 3-4 hour wild tour in the caverns and the service project)
Gem mining at the caverns (new this year)
An evening at the local drive in theatre (new this year)
Miniature golf
Nature hike (new this year)
Camping
Ice Cream Social (should your chosen times include Saturday when this is held)

The "Bonus 4" ($100) includes:

The "7 Days to Do it All" ($150) includes:
All the components of the Basic 3 option plus

True wild caving in a cavern with no commercial development (new this year)

PLEASE NOTE: Sample itineraries have been added to the download page.

There will be a limited amount of camping gear available for rental at an additional charge for those troops who desire to fly into our local airport. (Located just a few miles from the caverns, airport code is TRI). If there are enough troops and interest we will investigate the possibility of offering shuttle services to offsite activities for an additional fee.

There are a limited number of campsites with electricity for an additional fee so if you are bringing a popup camper and need electricity please indicate it on the registration form.

We do have flushies and showers on site.

New this year is the option to participate with other troops in Round Robin breakfasts and Potluck suppers or you can just cook all your meals on your own. Whichever you prefer to do is ok with us.

Prices are estimated and cannot be completely confirmed until after the first of the year when we can get  confirmed agreements with the other groups working with us but should not vary by more than $10 or so.

Check in begins anytime on Sunday with the first events tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday evening so if you want to arrive on Monday that's ok too.

T-Shirts will be available for purchase with advance order for $10-$12 each.

Release forms will be added for download as they become available.

Come stay all week or just a few days. Its up to you and your troop. Email or call Becky @ 423-764-7904 for more information or download and print your basic registration packet.

Don't forget there is a May 15th registration deadline so get your reservations in now.
